MOBILE PHONE fold Xiaomi The Mix Fold 3 is reportedly thinner than its rival Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5. According to Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun, this device comes with a number of upgrades.
Jun explained that the Mix Fold 3 has a 6.56-inch external screen which when unfolded will become an 8-inch tablet screen. As for the thickness of the body when closed, the thickness of the Mix Fold 3 is 10.86mm compared to the previous series equal to 11.2mm.
Compared to the Galaxy Z Fold 5 just launched by Samsung with a size of 13.46 mm, the Mix Fold 3 is clearly thinner. But so far the title of foldable and thinnest phone still belongs to Honor’s Magic V2 with a thickness of 9.6 mm when folded.
At the presentation Xiaomi showed off the improved Mix Fold 3 hinge to help the phone become thinner when folded. The company also says the new stem hinge structure improves the phone’s durability and flexibility.
Xiaomi claims that the 14 micro-hinge “significantly” increases the life of the hinge and reduces the risk of damage if dropped. The Chinese company says the Mix Fold 3 has been tested to withstand 500,000 folds, easily surpassing the 200,000 promised by Samsung for the Z Fold 5.
However, there is still no official information regarding the water and dust resistance IP of this foldable cell phone. In comparison, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 already has IPX8 which makes the mobile resistant to water splashes.
