White Water Rafting – R4 Head to Head Gold Medals Won by West Java and Jakarta

Banda Aceh (MidLand) – The West Java (Jabar) and Jakarta contingents won gold medals for number head to head (H2H) R4 at the rafting branch of the XXI National Sports Town (PON) Aceh-North Sumatra 2024 which took place on Saturday in Sungai Alas Ketambe, southeast Aceh.

In this issue, West Java dominates the men’s category. Meanwhile, Jakarta dominates the women’s category. These are the results of the competition received in Banda Aceh, Saturday evening.

West Java added to its gold medal after beating Aceh in the final round, finishing in the lead in 1 minute 46.52 seconds. Meanwhile, Aceh, who won the silver medal, managed to finish in 1 minute 57.33 seconds.

Banten won the bronze medal after beating North Sulawesi with a best time of 1 minute and 49.45 seconds, 10.34 seconds faster than their opponent.

Then, in the women’s category, Jakarta scored gold after facing North Sumatra with the fastest final time, namely 2 minutes and 07.72 seconds. With a record time of 2 minutes and 16.08 seconds, North Sumatra could only take home a silver medal.

South Kalimantan won a bronze medal after beating Yogyakarta, who were awarded a penalty. After receiving a penalty, DIY’s record time to the finish line was 3 minutes and 02.37 seconds. Meanwhile, South Kalimantan produced a time of 2 minutes and 17.86 seconds.

“Thank God we took the gold. Playing on the Alas River we have to push hard, then not give up, that is to make a good start and the laps in Boyan must be fast. The strategy is, we take Boyan 3 and 4 because the distance is close, we do not push too much”, said the captain of the Jakarta team Khaisya.

On the previous days of Thursday (12/9) and Friday (13/9), race n running along the river (DRR) R6 and R4 categories were contested. In the DRR R6 category, Aceh won a gold medal in the men’s sector, while North Sumatra won gold in the women’s sector. The DRR R4 category was won by West Java for the men’s sector and North Sumatra for the women’s sector.

With all the results in the rafting event, North Sumatra led the temporary medal table with two golds, two silvers and one bronze.

The second position is currently occupied by West Java with two gold medals. Then in third place, Aceh recorded one gold and two silvers. DKI Jakarta follows with one gold and East Java with two silvers.

On Sunday the head-to-head competition will continue at 10.00 WIB at the same location. This time, however, the R6 category will be held.

The rafting race will continue at place Mamas River started on Tuesday (17/9) with the number sprint R4 for boys and R6 for girls.

Then Wednesday (18/9), n slalom The men’s R4 will be played. The match continues on Thursday (19/9) morning with the number slalom R6 men and will end with the award ceremony for the winners.
