What is the Rp 660.8 trillion education budget for? RAPBN?
TIME.CO, Jakarta – President Joko Widodo said Bozza State budget (RAPBN) 2024 provides education funds of IDR 660.8 trillion. The budget, he said, is to build superior, innovative, integrity and competitive human resources (HR).
“The education budget of IDR 660.8 trillion or 20 percent of the state budget has been prepared, reflected in the central government spending envelope of IDR 2 37.3 trillion, transfers to the regions of 346.6 trillion of IDR and investment financing of IDR 77.0 trillion,” said President Joko Widodo during his speech on the presentation of the bill and financial notes for the 2024 budget year at the RI DPR plenary meeting for the session year 2023-2024, MPR/DPR Building, Jakarta, Wednesday, August 17, 2023.
The President said Indonesia must be able to take advantage of the demographic bonus and be ready to face technological disruptions. The mental revolution must not stop so that our human resources are productive, innovative, globally competitive, have integrity, have a noble character, while maintaining the cultural identity of the nation.
Meanwhile, efforts to improve the quality of Indonesia’s human resources are emphasized in a number of aspects, namely increasing the competence of teachers and educational staff; equitable distribution of educational quality through increased distribution of teachers and educational infrastructure; as well as improving the quality of PAUD.
Additionally, also increase access to education at all levels of education; improve the quality of infrastructure supporting educational activities, especially in underdeveloped, outermost and border areas; as well as strengthen the connectivity of vocational education with the labor market.
The government is also committed to strengthening investment in education, including by supporting the expansion of scholarship programmes, promoting culture, strengthening world-class universities and developing research and innovation.

In order to support healthy and productive human resources, the government has allocated Rs 186.4 trillion in healthcare funds, or the equivalent of 5.6 percent of the state budget.
The budget is aimed at transforming the healthcare system by encouraging the development of a strong and competitive pharmaceutical industry, increasing access and quality of primary and referral services, and ensuring the availability of reliable upstream and downstream healthcare facilities.
The health budget is also prepared to streamline the JKN program and accelerate the reduction of stunting prevalence to reach 14% in 2024. This is done by expanding the coverage of all districts/cities in Indonesia by strengthening the synergy of various institutions.
Meanwhile, the social protection budget is allocated in the amount of IDR 493.5 trillion. In this way, it is hoped that the APBN can accelerate poverty reduction and improve well-being so that it can support long-term human resource development.
