Vocational school students in East Java produce 260 electric vehicles, achieving net-zero emissions
TIME.CO, Jakarta – Governor of East Java Khofifah Indar Parawansa said the 260 electric vehicles created by vocational school students in the area represent the students’ real contribution to achieving net zero emissions (NZE) by 2060.
“I think this is a driving force on how to achieve net zero emissions by 2060. How to convert energy from fossil to non-fossil. And it starts with children in vocational schools, I think that’s really interesting,” Khofifah said after having examined the expo, as well as launching a parade of electric conversion vehicles, the result of the work of students from public and private vocational schools in East Java, at SMK Negeri 6 Surabaya, Thursday 26 October 2023.
Furthermore, in addition to electric vehicles made by vocational school students, there are also vehicles that use solar energy or solar cells. According to Khofifah, this is extraordinary, especially because solar energy is a non-fossil energy source.
“It’s really cool that there are motorcycles and cars that use solar cells. So not only can they convert using electricity, but they can also produce energy from solar cells. I asked before about the rainy season. It turns out that they are also collaborating with PLN a Reloadhis,” he said.
On the other hand, Khofifah said that the provincial government of East Java remains committed to supporting environmentally friendly energy and the use of new renewable energy (EBT) as an effort to realize NZE 2060. This makes the provincial government of East Java the overall champion at the 2023 National Energy Council (DEN) awards event.
