Hanoi (MidLand) – Vietnam’s fruit and vegetable export turnover reached over 1.8 billion US dollars (1 US dollar = Rp. 16,161) in the first four months of this year, up 32.9% compared to the same period last year, according to a report Wednesday (24/4) Vietnam News Agency, citing Vietnam’s General Department of Customs.
China, South Korea, the United States and Thailand were the largest importers of Vietnam’s fruits and vegetables during that period.
In the month of April alone, the value of exports was estimated at approximately $539.8 million, an increase of almost 14.9% compared to the previous month and 37.8% compared to the previous year.
The Foreign Trade Agency of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam estimates that exports of fruits and vegetables, including durian, will increase even more this year as more planting area codes and processing facilities can be certified packaging, thus creating favorable conditions for exports
Vietnam’s Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development estimates that the fruit and vegetable industry will continue to set new records this year with an estimated export turnover of between US$6 billion and US$6.5 billion, up 15-20 percent. compared to last year.
According to the ministry, the Southeast Asian country recorded a record $5.69 billion generated from fruit and vegetable exports last year, an increase of more than 70% year-on-year.
