BEIJING – Apple AND Huawei are known as two large companies in the technology sector. Interestingly, Huawei CEO Ren Zhengfei is not proud to admit that he is a big Apple fan.
Zhengfei made this statement at an international seminar discussion on university-level programming competitions recently held in China by Huawei.
Zhengfei openly admits that he respects the advantages and features that Apple products bring. This is what then led him, as founder of Huawei, to create no less interesting products.
“We often wonder what the secret is behind Apple’s hard-to-match quality. The difference between our offerings [Huawei] and Apple are clearly visible,” Zhengfei said, quoted by GizchinaSunday (9/24/2023).
Instead of making him a rival, Zhengfei called Apple his mentor. The reason is that this allows Huawei to continue to compete and learn how to create the best technology at affordable prices.
“I’m really happy to have Apple as a mentor, which gives us a valuable opportunity to learn and compare. In this case, it’s no exaggeration to call myself an Apple fan,” he continued.
Zhengfei’s statement was quite surprising to tech experts and enthusiasts. This is because the US government once suspected that Huawei was stealing technology from Uncle Sam’s country.
