Unpad will choose new chancellor, chairman of the board of trustees highlights candidates who can make money

MidLand, Bandung -Padjadjaran University (Unpack) will host election of chancellor period 2024 – 2029. The Chairman of the UNPAD Board of Directors (MWA), Arief Yahya, said that the selection process of the UNPAD Chancellor refers to electoral principles based on good university governance.

“These include being transparent, credible, responsive, honest, democratic and inclusive,” he said in a written statement, Sunday, February 25, 2024.

Apart from this, Arief also revealed the criteria for candidates for the post of Chancellor of UNPAD. According to him, the choice of chancellor is not just a matter of person academic leaderbut also capable of being a CEO or business leader. The reason is that as a Legal Entity State University (PTNBH), government interference, especially in budget injections for Unpad, will be less.

To increase PTNBH’s revenue outside of APBN funds, Arief said, the chancellor must also act as business leader. To realize these hopes, the Unpad MWA through the Steering Committee and Executive Committee will carry out a series of assessments to assess someone worthy of being selected as the Chancellor of the Unpad. “We need to look for faculty who understand the business world, so they know how to make money (income),” Arief said.

Meanwhile, Chancellor Rina Indiastuti said UNPAD continues to experience development as a university founded in 1957. However, she added, this development also brings great challenges.

He asked the committee to supervise the election process in a favorable and smooth manner until the inauguration of the chancellor-elect. “There are several universities that have less positive news. “Hopefully, during the regional election process, people out there will still have positive reviews of Unpad,” she said.

The Unpad Chancellor election process for 2024-2029 will be officially launched on March 1, 2024.
