“This year there are still no new students who want to register at SDN 1 Bajang, Mlarak,” said Plt. SDN 1 Mlarak principal Asrofi in Ponorogo on Tuesday.
The same was expressed by the director of SDN Setono Ponorogo, Suhadi, who stated that the phenomenon of declining interest in future students of his school has occurred in recent years.
“Last year we only had two new students, this year there were no application deadlines yet,” Suhadi said.
Suhadi also explained that the school has tried to find new students by visiting every potential student. However, these efforts have not yielded results. She also does not want to force students or their parents.

“Our steps have been maximized, we have arrived in full door to door but nobody wants it yet,” he stressed.
According to him, the number of new students continues to decrease, because the birth rate is also low.
The reason is that, in addition to SDN, the number of kindergarten students (TK) has also experienced the same thing. Apart from that, there are currently many choices of schools, both public and private.
