Three Ways to Take Screenshots on MacBook Without Additional Applications

1. Shift + Command + 3
You can use the key combination “Shift + Command + 3” on a MacBook, this method consists of taking a screenshot of the entire screen on a MacBook, here’s how:
- Select the part of the screen you want to screenshot
- Press and hold Shift + Command + 3 at the same time until a screenshot thumbnail appears in the lower right corner of the screen
- The screenshot results will be displayed directly as a thumbnail in the bottom right corner of the screen
- You can click on the thumbnail that appears if you want to edit the screenshot
- To save it unchanged, you can leave it for a while until the screenshot is automatically saved in your Macbook desktop folder.
2. Shift + Command + 4
You can use the key combination “Shift + Command + 4” on a MacBook to take a screenshot of a portion of the screen, here’s how:
- Select the part of the screen you want to screenshot
- Hold down the Shift, Command, and 4 keys at the same time
- You can drag the crosshair or pointer to select the area of the screen where the screenshot will be taken
- Hold down the spacebar while dragging the crosshairs to move the selected area. To cancel taking a screenshot, press the Esc (Escape) key.
- Release the mouse or trackpad button to take a screenshot
- The screenshot results will be displayed directly as a thumbnail in the bottom right corner of the screen
- You can click on the thumbnail or thumbnail displayed if you want to edit the screenshot
- If you don’t want to change it, you can leave it for a while until the screenshot is automatically saved in your Macbook desktop folder.
3. Shift + Command + 4 + Space
You can use the key combination “Shift + Command + 4 + Space” on a MacBook to take a screenshot of a particular currently active window, here’s how:
- Open the window or menu you want to take a screenshot of
- Hold down Shift, Command, 4, and spacebar at the same time
- The pointer will change to a camera icon. To cancel taking a screenshot, press the Esc (Escape) key.
- Scroll with your mouse or touchpad to select the window you want to screenshot
- Press your mouse or touchpad to instantly take a screenshot
- If you see a thumbnail in the corner of your screen, click to edit the screenshot or wait until the screenshot is saved to your Macbook desktop.
