Threads features a Hidden Words feature that hides offensive words
Jakarta (MidLand) – Meta introduces a number of new features for social media threads, one of which is Hidden Words which allows users to block messages that contain words, phrases and even emojis with the intention of offending someone.
According to a report from Engadget on Friday, this feature will activate on its own and filter out any words that are considered offensive, irrelevant, or that users don’t want to see.
Users can add words they want to hide, such as “violence” or “weight loss.” Users can add their own words that they wish to hide by selecting the “manage custom words and phrases“.

This social media platform is also testing two additional features, namely turning off notifications (silence) and citation checking (quota control).
Characteristic silence allows users to turn off certain notifications for each interaction with a user’s uploads. Through this feature, users can still receive notifications about new followers or tags without seeing every response to an upload.
While quota control allows users to choose who can quote their posts and can also remove quotes from their posts.
However, Meta has not announced when these two features will be available to all Threads users.

It is known that the number of monthly users of the Threads social network has now reached 150 million accounts, an increase of 20 million compared to last February.
This figure was announced in Mark Zuckerberg’s first quarter earnings report and he stated that the social media platform’s growth was still in line with his expectations.
This result shows that Threads’ growth is still stable, although not as great as when it was first launched. In the first week of launch, Threads was downloaded 100 million times, but usage declined in the period thereafter.
However, over the past six months Threads has shown more consistent growth, with Zuckerberg predicting that the social media site could become Meta’s next application to reach a billion users.
