These are the three favorite programs of Bandung residents: religion, quizzes and news
MidLand, Jakarta – Indonesian Broadcasting Commission The West Java region (KPID Jabar) revealed the results of the latest survey in Bandung on the perception of the quality of radio and television media. Bandung was chosen as the first city examined to see a portrait of the spectacle of urban society.
According to West Java KPID President Adiyana Slamet, respondents preferred three programs, namely religion, quizzes and news. “The survey results are different from the general opinion that what people like are soap operas, reality shows or variety shows,” she said on Friday, March 1, 2024.
Of the 400 interviewees, the majority of whom are Sundanese, it is known that the duration of television viewing is mostly around 2-3 hours, while the radio is listened to for 1-2 hours every day. Two other favorite shows are sports and comedy.
The survey was conducted in November 2023. Structured face-to-face interviews involved eleven university-educated surveyors. The survey used the method of multi-stage random sampling and proportional sampling at the sub-district level, targeting 201 male respondents, accounting for 50.25%, and 199 female respondents (49.75%).
Different profiles of respondents, for example 295 people (73.75%) were married, 70 people (17.5%) were unmarried and 35 people (8.75%) were widows or widowers. The majority were high school graduates (43.25%) and middle school graduates (21.25%). The top three professions are entrepreneurs or traders (36.5%), housewives (28.5%) and private employees (15.5%).
Announcement
Most of the TV stations they watch are RCTI, SCTV and Indosiar. The majority of those interviewed, i.e. 322 people (83%), admitted that they had never listened to the radio. The media watched in the over the top (OTT) category is YouTube.
Adiyana added that the survey results also found that the lowest level of compliance with television and radio broadcast media was related to mystical or horror content. The lowest compliance score in OTT is found in presenting news using journalistic rules.
A similar investigation, Adiyana said, could be conducted by the West Java KPID in other cities or districts in West Java. In addition to observing citizens’ habits of viewing broadcast media, this survey also aims to regularly evaluate the quality of television, radio and OTT programs based on the categories of programs broadcast.
