There are still 183 hotspots spread across East Kalimantan, BMKG: We will inform BPBD

MidLand, Jakarta – Agency of Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics o BMKGin the monitoring period last Sunday, it detected 183 hot spots spread across East Kalimantan province, so relevant parties have been notified so they can take action.

“This number of hot spots was observed last Sunday from 01:00 to 24:00 WITA,” said Data and Information Coordinator for Class I Weather Station BMKG Sultan Aji Muhammad Sulaiman-Sepinggan Balikpapan Diyan Novrida in Balikpapan , Monday 6 November 2023.

A total of 183 hot spots, which are early indicators of forest and land fires, were monitored in five districts, especially in Paser district there were five hot spots, West Kutai (32), East Kutai (76), Kutai Kartanegara (30), and Berau district were monitored (40).

He said the latest information regarding the distribution of hot spots has been submitted to the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) at the respective provincial and district levels so that it can be followed up.

Diyan also asked residents to help prevent forest and land fires, including by not throwing cigarette butts carelessly and not burning them to open or clear land.

Meanwhile, the district-wise distribution of the 183 hot spots includes Paser where five spots are monitored, spread across three sub-districts, namely Batu Sopang (1), Muara Samu (3) and Tanjung Harapan Sub-district (1).

In West Kutai regency, 32 points are monitored, distributed across seven sub-districts, namely Bongan (3), Dilangputi (2), Jempang (9), Melak (2), Muara Lawa (3), Muara Pahu (8) , and the Penyinggahan district point (5).

“Regency Kutai Kartanegara 30 points were surveyed, distributed across 10 sub-districts, namely Loa Janan (1), Sebulu (1), Muara Wis (1), Muara Muntai (5), Muara Kaman (10), Muara Badak (1), Kota Bangun (1), Anggana (1), Tenggarong Seberang (1) and Kembang Janggut (7) points,” Diyan said.
