The use of artificial intelligence is an effort to improve patient healthcare services

Jakarta (MidLand) – The expert staff of the Indonesian Minister of Health in the field of health technologies, Setiaji ST M.Si, said that the use of artificial intelligence or artificial intelligence will simplify and improve the quality of service to patients when they seek treatment, both physically in hospitals and online.

“Digitalization of healthcare is the key to increasing access, efficiency and quality of medical services in the future,” Setiaji said at the Sysmex Indonesia CEO Forum 2024 in Jakarta on Thursday.

According to him, the use of artificial intelligence could be very useful in making it easier for doctors to diagnose patients and also increase the rate of recovery because it is treated more quickly.

Currently, artificial intelligence analysis can detect 124 lung tumors using X-rays. The combination of artificial intelligence and X-ray technology can produce more precise and faster images.

Artificial intelligence will also be used in the Ministry of Health’s Satu Sehat application, where patients who subsequently use the application will be able to take advantage of the chat function to accurately detect the disease they are suffering from even before seeing a doctor. Using artificial intelligence as a chatbot assistant that can answer user questions and needs, it can help in finding medical personnel and health information suited to the user’s needs.

Accurate diagnosis via AI is also needed so that patients get clarity on their disease and doctors can easily provide treatment based on the information obtained from the application. Besides that, the integration of the patient’s medical record can also be improved with artificial intelligence so that doctors can get clear information before meeting the patient.

“Imagine if doctors knew what the disease was as soon as the patient arrived, not only in health facilities in the city but in all health facilities in Indonesia, if it could be diagnosed early it would be very positive,” he said.

Implementing AI in healthcare presents many challenges, ranging from user concerns about data security to conventional-to-digital integration, which many people still don’t understand.

For this reason, by law, the Ministry of Health has tried to provide a sense of security to users with the principle of protection of personal data starting from the data collection phase, from the data entry process, of analysis up to the moment of use.

“At Satu Sehat, patients can authorize access to their health information so that it can be viewed completely, partially or completely closed, regardless of whether it can be downloaded or not,” he said.

He hopes that with the contribution of various parties and companies supporting healthcare technology, he can continue to develop his business in Indonesia so that healthcare services can be better.
