The UK develops a laser brighter than the sun: techno Okezone

OXFORDSHIRE – The UK is reportedly busy with construction laser strongest in the world. With funding reaching £85 million or the equivalent of IDR 1.6 trillion, it is claimed that the laser will be brighter than Sun.

Reporting from Meteron Friday (9/29/2023), this laser is expected to revolutionize scientific research and produce new discoveries in various fields such as clean energy and cancer treatment.

The laser was named “Vulcan 20-20” and was built at the Science and Technology Facilities Council’s (STFC) Central Laser Facility (CLF) in Oxfordshire.

The Vulcan 20-20 laser is said to be 100 times brighter than its predecessor and exponentially brighter than the brightest sunlight in the Sahara Desert.

“Re-establishing the UK as home to the world’s most powerful laser is an exciting opportunity to explore the unexplored in astronomy and physics, move towards new environmentally friendly energy sources for the good of our planet and much more,” he established UK Science. Minister, George Freeman.

Lasers will be used to study the fundamental properties of matter under extreme conditions, which could lead to the development of new materials and technologies. It will also be used to explore the potential of laser fusion as a clean energy source.

Development of the Vulcan 20-20 laser is scheduled to be completed in 2027 and is expected to create hundreds of new jobs for scientists and engineers.

Vulcan itself has been the CLF’s flagship laser for many years and is widely recognized internationally as a pioneering facility. Over the past 40 years, this facility has made major contributions to plasma physics research, and hundreds of graduate students have trained at the facility.

“The time has come for Vulcan to undergo its next major upgrade, so it is ready to serve a new generation of scientists, ensuring the UK maintains its leadership role in this field,” concluded Freeman.
