The UGM Chancellor visits universities and industry in Europe to strengthen collaboration
MidLand, Yogyakarta – In the spirit of building effective collaboration with partners University, Principal Gadjah Mada University (UGM) Ova Emilia together with heads of universities and faculties visited six universities and two institutions in European countries from October 26 to November 3, 2023. This trip started from the Czech Republic.
Kenssy Dwi Ekaningsih, Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to the Czech Republic, welcomed the UGM delegation to Wisma Duta Indonesia.
“There are many potential collaborations that can be explored in the Czech Republic, and the embassy will be very willing to facilitate and connect the UGM with targeted partners in the Czech Republic,” Kenssy said in a written statement from the OIA UGM, Sunday 5 November. 2023.
UGM visits Palacky University
On 27 October 2023, a delegation from UGM visited Palacky University to explore further potential collaborations initiated by the Faculty of Humanities through the Erasmus plus project and the IISMA programme.
The delegation was welcomed by Michal Malacka, as Vice Chancellor for Strategy and Regional Affairs, Statutory Representative of the Chancellor of UPOL, together with representatives of other faculties of UPOL.
“A good collaboration is not only in paper form, but the most important thing is the implementation of programs that will impact both universities,” Michal said.
UGM visits Leiden University (UL) and Wageningen University and Research (WUR) in the Netherlands
After meeting with UGM alumni in The Hague on 29 October 2023, the rector and the delegation visited Leiden University (UL) and Wageningen University and Research (WUR) in the Netherlands.

The purpose of this meeting is to strengthen existing collaborations and sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) regarding the Joint Center of Research and Expertise Agreement on Zebrafish Research.
UGM paid a visit to the University of Groningen (UG) and the Aeres University of Applied Sciences
On October 31, the delegation visited the University of Groningen (UG) led by Ova Emilia and the Aeres University of Applied Sciences, Dronten, led by UGM Vice Chancellor for Human Resources and Finance, Supriyadi.
The collaboration with UG has led to many strategic programs such as staff and student exchanges, joint research, joint supervision and double degree programs.
UGM and UG realize that existing programs need to be upgraded to the next level. The two universities have agreed to build a comprehensive strategic partnership.
The focus of this discussion is the development of the future of human well-being, with the main objective of creating innovation and sustainable solutions to pursue future human well-being starting from the pillars of education, research and community service.
