The tandem xc paragliding competition has been postponed again due to a storm
Banda Aceh (MidLand) – The tandem xc paragliding competition at the 21st Aceh-North Sumatra National Sports Week (PON) has been postponed again as rain accompanied by a thunderstorm hit the competition arena in Lamtanjong area, Suka Makmur district, Aceh Besar on Monday.
“We cannot organize the tandem xc race today yet because the wind and storm occurred from morning until noon,” paragliding technical delegate Wahyu Yudha in Banda Aceh said on Monday.
He explained that he will continue to try to make up time so that the tandem xc numbers can be implemented because so far there are already ten valid numbers and the other two numbers, namely for the team and the individual tandem xc, have no value yet.
He said that in holding this match, his party attaches great importance to the safety of the athletes, so if the weather is not favorable, the match will not continue or will be postponed and will continue the next day.
“Our goal is to have the winner’s honor ceremony (UPP) on September 19,” he said.
Acting Regent of Aceh Besar Muhammad Iswanto also came directly to the site to inspect the paragliding arena in Lamtanjong village, Suka Makmur sub-district, Aceh Besar.

“This inspection is to ensure the conditions of the paragliding arena after the rain and wind. “We as hosts must ensure the safety and comfort of the athletes because paragliding is a high-risk sport and also requires a high level of safety,” he said.
Muhammad Iswanto’s presence also served to ensure the safety of the equipment in the arena, such as tents and other support materials.
“There is a lot of equipment here, we also have to ensure its safety because the paragliding competition is still far away and will end on September 19,” he said.
