The story of Gibran Hizaifah, an Indonesian child highlighted by the world for the success of eFishery: Okezone techno

JAKARTA – NO Gibran Hizaifah perhaps it is still foreign to most Indonesians. However, the 33-year-old has attracted the world’s attention thanks to his innovation.

As reported by ForbesSunday (10/15/2023), Gibran Huzaifah is the founder to boot which just managed to become a unicorn called eFishery.

It is a company that develops technological solutions for fish farming management in the form of automatic feeding machines for medium and large sized fish ponds.

Currently eFishery is involved in approximately 300,000 ponds. Its success cannot be separated from the sophistication of the automatic fish feeding equipment, equipped with high-tech sensors.

This tool has the function of controlling the feeding of the fish, so that they do not consume too much or too little. This ensures efficiency for aquaculturists.

Gibran Huzaifah has now produced his tool in version 2.1. The tool is also equipped with sensors to monitor pool conditions and can be connected to solar panels.

This means that the tool presented by former students of the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) can be used in places that do not have an electricity grid and provides opportunities for aquaculture farmers in remote areas.

Gibran Hizaifah charges IDR 15,000 per month to fish farmers who use his equipment. Here the farmers also had access to the demand for its operations.

And in addition to renting feeding equipment, through eFishery Gibran Hizaifah has also shifted his business to another model. This is done to find other significant sources of income.

The effort comes through margins involving a combination of financing, which includes loans from banks to farmers to be used to purchase fish feed from third parties and the sale of fish.

Gibran Huzaifah even joked that the fish pond business is the new fintech. With this success, it’s no surprise that eFishery is quickly becoming the new unicorn.
