“Communication skills training is still very important for the future, especially with the GPT chat challenge. “Universities need to take concrete steps to be able to use AI to advance education,” Arif said.

Launching the new rules, Education and Culture Minister Nadiem Makarim explained that his party wants to simplify national higher education standards. “National higher education standards have now become simpler. “The simplification of regulations takes place in the scope of standards, graduate competence standards and learning and assessment process standards, so that universities can focus more on improving the quality of the tridharma of higher education,” he said he.

One part that is in the spotlight is the thesis which is no longer mandatory as a degree requirement. Students can build graduation skills by creating prototypes, projects, or other similar assignments as determined by campus policy. This also gives campuses the freedom to determine standards of proficiency for graduate students based on their fields.
