The National Library chooses Edi Wiyono as the most outstanding librarian of 2024

Jakarta (MidLand) – The National Library (Perpusnas) has chosen a librarian named Edi Wiyono as the winner with the most achievements in the 2024 National Best Achievement Librarian Selection event.

“Librarians must ensure that people’s rights to information and knowledge are respected for their life skills, as well as the realization of inclusive development goals focused on improving the quality of human resources,” said the MP for Development of National Library Resources, Adin Bondar, in his official statement. in Jakarta on Thursday.

Adin said that besides Edi, the second winner was a librarian from Parepare city library service named Hery and the third winner was librarian Rahmawati from MAN 4 Aceh Besar.

By selecting a number of winners, Adin reminded us that this achievement, which is not easy to achieve, is used as a moment to remind ourselves that a librarian is someone who has competence, both skill, experience and attitude.

This is because advances in digitalization and artificial intelligence can impact the degradation of library functions, including changes in people’s behavior.

“Like it or not, libraries are also required to improve the quality of their service,” he said.

So, according to him, the tasks of a librarian are very difficult, besides being a manager, he also has to play a role in providing library services.

“Libraries need to bring about transformations in the form of creativity and innovation to make them more dynamic,” he said.

Previously, Pt. The head of the Center for Library Development, Nurcahyono, added that from the data, 21 thousand librarians and about three thousand new librarians were certified.
