Jakarta (MidLand) – The Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Kemendikbudristek) said that there are currently more than 3,000 university study programs (prodi) and 200 thousand students participating in the Independent Campus Learning Movement (MBKM).

“There are currently more than 3,000 study programs and more than 200,000 students participating in the MBKM program,” Merdeka Campus Center CEO Gugup Kismono said in a statement in Jakarta on Tuesday.

Gugup said the various positive impacts of the MBKM program were the fuel to strengthen the creation of MBKM Mandiri because MBKM had various impacts on the beneficiaries.

In fact, until January 2024, more than one million students participated in the MBKM programs who joined through the program Flagship and MBKM Mandiri.

In addition to the hundreds of thousands of students participating in these programs, 1,247 universities from 34 provinces collaborated in organizing the program.

He explained that some of the personal impacts of MBKM are that it can make beneficiaries more confident, while the economic impact is that it provides work experience so that the salary they receive will increase more quickly.

“There are also social impacts, such as the Teaching Campus program in MBKM which is able to strengthen Indonesianness in expressing ideas in MBKM Mandiri,” Gugup said.

The MBKM Mandiri itself is a form of encouragement for the independent campus policy that encourages universities to run MBKM programs independently.

In implementing MBKM Mandiri, universities organize, finance and execute the MBKM program without the assistance of the Ministry of Education and Culture.

The goal is to help as many students as possible gain off-campus experience in preparation for future careers.
