The Ministry of Communications and Information’s initiative to optimize artificial intelligence supports industrial growth
Jakarta (MidLand) – The government through the Ministry of Communications and Information has prepared a series of initiatives to create artificial intelligence (AI/artificial intelligence) can be optimally used to support industrial growth.
One of the initiatives implemented is the legal basis in the form of Regulation of the Minister of Communication and Information number 3 of 2021.
“What the Ministry of Communication and Information is doing to create artificial intelligence that can be optimal for our industry has a basis in Regulation Number 3 of 2021 of the Ministry of Communication and Information relating to standards of business activity for the implementation of risk-based licensing in the postal sector, Telecommunications, systems and electronic transactions sector”, said the Director of Resource Management at the General Directorate of Equipment, Postal Resources and Information of the Ministry of communications and information, Denny Setiawan, during a discussion on Monday evening in Jakarta.

These regulations aim to regulate the standard classification of industry sectors for AI-based programming activities. This classification arrangement is also carried out in strategic sectors that currently have a large development of AI, such as in the healthcare sector, in the sector of bureaucratic reforms, in the sector of education and research, in the sector of food safety, but also in mobility and in systems. smart city (smart city).
It is expected that the provision of classifications to standardize artificial intelligence in industry will be able to encourage the growth of businesses in each sector and advance Indonesia from a digital and social economic perspective so as to provide effective solutions for society .
Not only Permenkominfo 3/2021, the Ministry of Communication and Information also strengthens AI-related regulations so that AI technology and innovation can be maintained in terms of safety and application.
There are two regulations that support this step, namely Government Regulation number 71 of 2019 relating to the implementation of electronic systems and transactions and Law number 27 of 2022 relating to the protection of personal data.
In addition to preparing regulations, the Ministry of Communications and Information is also strengthening other areas, such as equalizing Internet access so that the application of artificial intelligence can be more inclusive in various regions, not just concentrated in one area, but widespread in other places.
“AI is a new solution. If the digital infrastructure is slow, using AI can be frustrating. Our management’s job is to make connectivity services fast, convenient and easy to use,” he said. Denny stated.
The Ministry of Communication and Information has also prepared an employment map in the artificial intelligence sector and the Indonesian National Work Competence Standards (SKKNI) in the artificial intelligence sector so that the public can understand the needs of artificial intelligence of the country. Based on these projections, existing digital infrastructure can be used more effectively by society for the development of artificial intelligence.
