The Ministry of Communications and Information integrates Microsoft and DTS digital talent programs
Jakarta (MidLand) – The Ministry of Communication and Information (Kemenkominfo) said it is ready to integrate Microsoft’s digital talent development program with the Digital Talent Scholarship (DTS) program which is part of the talent development program of the Ministry of Communications and Information.
According to Budi, the integration will take place as part of Microsoft’s investment in Indonesia worth US$1.7 billion (equivalent to IDR 27.6 trillion) over the next four years.
“In four years it is expected to produce 840 thousand digital talents specifically for artificial intelligence in Indonesia. So the Ministry of Communication and Information has something called Digital Talent Scholarship. It will be detailed again after this meeting, we will detail everything with Microsoft,” Budi said Tuesday at the Office of the Ministry of Communications and Information in central Jakarta.

According to Budi, developing digital talent is a difficult “task” because it is another important foundation in addition to building infrastructure for digital technology development in Indonesia to develop.
Therefore, in conjunction with the investment commitment of these digital giants, the government is actively opening up spaces for collaboration so that the development of digital talent, especially in the field of artificial intelligence, can be aligned with the steps to realize the Indonesia’s digital transformation.
“This is hard work, that’s why the government must support Microsoft’s initiatives and efforts,” Budi said.

On Tuesday morning, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella had a meeting with Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) to present his investment plans in Indonesia.
During the meeting, President Joko Widodo supported global technology company Microsoft’s investments in Indonesia, including building a research center and developing digital talent.
Microsoft already has digital talent development programs, such as “AI Oddyssey,” which is expected to reach 10,000 Microsoft-credentialed programmers in Indonesia.
In response to Microsoft’s business development efforts, the government has offered a number of locations for the construction of Microsoft research centers, including Bali and the archipelago capital (IKN).
The government believes that building a technology research and development center will be very beneficial for Indonesia on its path to becoming a developed country.
