The Ministry of Communications and Information asks mobile operators to improve services during Eid

Jakarta (MidLand) – The Ministry of Communications and Information (Kemenkominfo) has asked Indonesian cellular operators to improve the quality of telecommunications services during the Homecoming and Eid holidays.

“The Ministry of Communications and Information has been coordinating with telecommunications providers, both formally through official letters and informally through direct communication,” the Director General of Posts and Information Technologies at the Ministry told MidLand on Monday of Communications and Information, Wayan Tony Supriyanto. .

“The Ministry of Communications and Information has asked telecom providers to maintain and improve service quality during Idul Fitri 1445 H and manage traffic peaks,” he said.

According to him, telecom service providers such as Telkomsel, XL Axiata, Indosat Ooredo Hutchison (IOH) and Smarfren are committed to maintaining reliable connectivity during the Homecoming and Eid al-Fitr period, a time when the use of telecommunications services increases.

If the Telecommunications Observatory (PMT) detects connectivity issues during this period, telecommunications service providers will be advised to act quickly to resolve them.

Wayan said telecom service providers have added supporting infrastructure such as Mobile transceiver base station (BTS) to strengthen connectivity in various districts and cities of Indonesia during Homecoming and Eid.

He specified that in this case Telkomsel had prepared 36 mobile BTS and IOH prepare 38 mobile BTS, Smartfren prepares 337 mobile BTS and XL Axiata prepared 59 of them mobile BTS.

The Ministry of Communications and Information has also tested telecom networks on homecoming routes and Eid homecoming destination areas.

​​​​​​”Through PMT we also carry out measurements of the good quality of the service driving test AND static test “in several cities and routes back home, including Jakarta, Bandung, Sumedang, Surabaya, Yogyakarta, Solo, Kendal, Medan, Aceh and Palembang,” Wayan said.

Telecom service providers have predicted a surge in data usage ahead of and during Eid.

Telkomsel estimates a peak in traffic broadband connection will reach 15.22 percent while XL Axiata expects an increase in traffic broadband connection about 10-20% during that period.
