The Ministry of Communication and Information will send an official letter to X’s management requesting that negative content cannot be published or displayed on X’s timeline in Indonesia.

“Maybe specifically for content included in our negative content, they may not be published or appear in them timeline in Indonesia,” Nezar said.

He also presented several tools that can be used to block illegal content on social media, including community guidelines on platforms and platforms’ internal mechanisms to ensure compliance with regulations in user countries, including Indonesia.

Besides that, according to him, the government can act in accordance with the existing law if social media platforms do not follow the norms that have become a national consensus.

X announced a new policy that allows users to upload immoral content. The new policy was widely discussed after X updated information in its help center at the end of May 2024.
