Jakarta (MidLand) – The Ministry of Communication and Information (Kemenkominfo) has established a partnership with Chevening, a scholarship program of the British government, in an effort to expand the scope of the scholarship program to increase the capacity of human resources in the digital field.
The signing of a memorandum of understanding regarding cooperation in the provision of scholarships between the Ministry of Communication and Information and Chevening was signed on Thursday (30/5) at the British Embassy in South Jakarta.
According to the Ministry’s press release, the signing of a memorandum of understanding on cooperation was carried out in Jakarta on Friday by the head of the Human Resources Development Agency of the Ministry of Communication and Information, Hary Budiarto and Head of the British Embassy Economic and Digital Jakarta Samuel Hayes.
Deputy Minister of Communication and Information Nezar Patria said the ministry plans to expand the scope of the scholarship program to support the growth of digital talent.
“We at Kominfo intend to expand the scope of the study. The scope of the study and also the number of participants who will be able to collaborate with Chevening will increase year by year,” Nezar said.
“We hope this will be one of the collaborations to increase superior digital talents in the future,” he said.
He said providing an overseas scholarship program for young Indonesian talent was an investment in developing superior digital talent.
“Since 2007, this has been a commitment to investing in the education sector. This includes supporting 91 scholarship recipients to study in England, and seven of them are funded through Chevening Program co-operation,” he said.
Hary said the scholarship program was designed to prepare people with digital skills and knowledge and is expected to produce superior talent in the digital field.

Meanwhile, the British Ambassador to Indonesia and East Timor, Dominic Jermey, assessed that the two countries have a common interest in developing high-quality human resources, especially in the field of information and communication technologies.
“We welcome this great collaboration with the Ministry of Communication and Information. The academic skills and connections of the scholarship recipients offer them great opportunities to become pioneers in their respective fields, both in the areas of digital economy, policy public, smart cityto other digital innovations,” he said.
Chevening is a UK Government global scholarship program funded by the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) and partner organisations.
This scholarship supports one year of postgraduate training at UK universities for individuals with the potential to become future leaders, decision makers and opinion leaders.
The Ministry of Communication and Information’s scholarship program with Chevening will begin in the 2025-2026 academic year and will be implemented over a three-year period.
This program will provide an opportunity for five people from Indonesia each year to receive education funding, including exam and thesis fees, monthly living expenses, as well as travel expenses to and from their home country. origin.
