The Ministry of Communication and Information is reviewing the blocking of X following the authorization of pornographic content
Jakarta (MidLand) – The Ministry of Communication and Information is currently considering whether to block social media X following the policy of allowing pornographic content to be uploaded to the platform.
“I will study it later. If it is allowed in this way, it will definitely be blocked. That’s why we are studying it,” Director General of Computer Applications at the Ministry of Communications and Information, Semuel Abrijani Pangerapan, said on Friday in Jakarta.
He said his party will hold a press conference in the near future to announce the steps the government will take regarding Policy X regarding pornographic content.

Semuel admitted that the spread of pornographic content on X has been very massive. His party called on the platform to remove adult content so that the digital space remains healthy.
“We wrote that there is pornographic content, please remove it. There are already hundreds of thousands of them in X, we found a lot of them, most of them are there,” he said.
Semuel stressed that the government will be firm against platforms that do not comply with Indonesian regulations. He said the blocking will be done on the platform as a whole, not on the content or the account of the uploader of the content.

When the platform does not comply with the government’s request to remove illegal content, the next step will be to block the platform.
“If this is the policy, then they must be ready to go. We are implementing the rules, the government is obliged to implement them. So what we block is X, I can’t block the content,” he said.
He also added that if Platform X does not comply with the rules, users should be ready to migrate to other platforms.
