The Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources said the EBT mix target of 23% in 2025 remains on track
This goal remains on track
Jakarta (MidLand) – Energy and Mineral Resources Minister (ESDM) Arifin Tasrif said the new renewable energy mix (EBT) target of 23% by 2025 remains on track.
“The target is still on track,” Arifin said on Friday at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, in Jakarta.
Arifin responded to the National Energy Council (DEN) that it plans to revise the EBT mix target in 2025 to 17-19% from the previous target of 23% through the renewal of the National Energy Policy (KEN).
DEN has prepared an update to PP number 79 of 2014 regarding national energy policy that adapts to strategic environmental changes in line with climate change commitments and embraces energy transition efforts towards carbon neutrality by 2060.
“We still remain, that’s the forecast,” Arifin continued.
He underlined that to accelerate the EBT mix, the regulations and construction of EBT plants, foreseen in the electricity supply business plan (RUPTL), have also been prepared.
“The current regulations we have are sufficient and the RUPTL is also based on this objective,” Arifin said.
However, he did not deny that among the problems hindering the acceleration of the EBT mix is the availability of infrastructure.
“Maybe the problem now is our limited infrastructure, that’s what we need to improve,” Arifin said.
At the press conference “ESDM sector results in 2023 and work program in 2024”, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources noted that the realization of the EBT mix in 2023 amounted to 13.1% of the target of the 17.9%.
The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources also revealed the strategic measures taken to increase the EBT mix, including the implementation of the construction of EBT plants through the Electricity Supply Business Plan (RUPTL) with a target in 2025 of 10 .6 gigawatts (GW).
Then, implement the rooftop solar power generation (PLTS) program with a target of 3.6 GW for 2025.
Also, conversion of diesel generators to EBT, mandatory B35 program with a target of 13.9 million kiloliters (KL) to 2025, biomass co-firing program at PLTU with a target of 10.2 million tonnes to 2025.
Next, provide access to modern energy through EBT in outermost, frontier and underdeveloped (Q3) locations, geothermal exploration by government and utilization of EBT not in network and direct use.
