The Lion Air Jakarta-Pontianak route was diverted to Batam

However, around 4.45 pm the plane almost landed in Supadio, Pontianak, just a few meters away because from the window of the plane you could already see the land, but for a moment the pilot I was back on the plane again,” said one of the plane’s original passengers. One of the passengers of the Lion Air plane, from Sekadau, West Kalimantan, Arkadius said that the plane was forced to land at the nearest airport, namely Hang Nadim Batam.
The flight originally from CGK to PNK with flight number JT-724 on Mar 8, 2024 13:05 WIB has been rescheduled to JT-686 and departs on Mar 8, 2024 14:40 WIB, notification was made at March 6 2024.
However, the next day, namely March 7, the airline was again informed that the Akradius flight would be changed to March 8, 2024, 2.40pm WIT, with flight number JT-712.
“I received notification that my new flight, number JT-712, will depart on March 8, 2024, at 2:40 PM WIB,” Akradius said.
Akradius said that today, Friday 8 March, the flight scheduled for 2.40pm WIB was delayed to 3.40pm WIB.
However, flights continued to operate normally as usual from Soekarno Hatta to Supadio. However, around 4.45pm the plane almost landed in Supadio and was several meters from the runway, but the pilot continued his journey.
“Because you could see the ground from the window of the plane, but the pilot raised the plane again, suddenly everything was silent and still inside the plane they were looking at each other,” he said.
He saw the weather outside the plane, it looked foggy due to rain, and at 17.25 WIB, the pilot informed that the plane could not land in Pontianak and chose the nearest airport, namely Hang Nadim Batam.
Executive General Manager of Angkasa Pura II, Supadio Airport Branch, Muhammad Iwan Sutisna, confirmed the incident, saying that Lion Air flight JT712 was diverted to Hang Nadim Batam because the weather did not allow the plane to land in Supadio.
“It is true that it was diverted to Hang Nadim Batam, due to bad weather in Supadio,” he said upon confirmation by Antara.
He added that Lion Air JT712 now departed Hang Nadim Batam tonight at 19.05 WIB and arrived in Supadio at 20.12 WIB.
“Lion Air JT712 landed in Supadio at 20.12 WIB,” he explained.
As noted by the BMKG website, in Sungai Raya district, Kubu Raya, West Kalimantan, heavy rain occurred on Friday, March 8, 2024 with a wind speed of 10 km/h and an air humidity of 60%. At 2.50pm WIT, heavy rain occurred in the Pontianak City, Kubu Raya and North Kayong areas.
At 16.20 WIT, it was observed from the sea that rain clouds were still present. It is estimated that this evening the rain will still be moderate to heavy in the areas of Pontianak, Kubu Raya, Mempawah, Bengkayang, Singkawang, Kayong, Ketapang and parts of Sambas.
