The latest earthquake from the Meratus fault shakes Banjar in South Kalimantan
MidLand, Jakarta – Earthquake was heard again recently in South Kalimantan on Tuesday, February 13, 2024. BMKG noted that the earth-centered earthquake, triggered by the Meratus fault, occurred at 2:09 PM WIB.
The aftershock of this morning’s earthquake had a strength of M3.3 and the tremor was felt strongest in Sambung Makmur district, Banjar regency, on the III MMI scale. This is the equivalent of a real vibration that can be felt inside the house as if a truck were passing by.
“So far there has been no news on the impact of the damage caused by the earthquake,” said the head of the BMKG Earthquake and Tsunami Center in Daryono, in a statement distributed after the earthquake.
He said the aftershock was centered on land at a distance of 22 kilometers northeast of Banjar, South Kalimantan. The depth of the epicenter was 10 kilometers.

The epicenter of the earthquake was not far from the earthquake that occurred this morning, at 8.22 WIB. At that time, the magnitude 4.7 earthquake was measured to have an epicenter at a distance of 19 kilometers northeast of Banjar. The depth is the same, 10 kilometers.
According to BMKG, the strongest tremors this morning could also be felt on the MMI III scale, particularly in the city of Banjarmasin, as well as in the regencies of Tapin and Barito Kuala.
