The FIB UI community service team tells the story of the resurrection of the extinct Tidore weaving

MidLand, Jakarta – Community Service Team of the Faculty of Cultural Sciences of the UI (FIB) Dr. Ade So saw and Dwi Woro Retno Mastuti conveyed their experiences in generating existence Weaving Puta Dino is a typical weaving of the extinct Sultanate of Tidore.

Firstly, by providing assistance to the local community, especially encouraging young Tidore (Ngofa Tidore) people to enjoy the weaving culture again.

Second, to conduct research, collect and analyze Tidore’s weaving patterns, and elaborate the historical and philosophical significance of the weaving patterns, and then turn it into a book.

Third, make a documentary about Tidore woven fabric and also broadcast it on YouTube with the title “Revitalization of Central Halmahera Regional Clothing – Identity in the Framework of Indonesian Diversity”.

He said this was done so that the wider community, both domestic and foreign, could witness the validation of regional clothing fabrics as local identities.

The three efforts made to bring the Tidore Woven Cloth back to life were showcased in the 2023 Community Service and Empowerment Festival (PPM), which was held from November 6 to 10, 2023.

In addition to explaining Tidore Woven Cloth, the service team of the Directorate of Community Service and Empowerment (DPPM) of the University of Indonesia (UI) also held a talk show titled “Variety of Archipelago Creations” in the Floating Room , UI Depok Campus.

Head of Talkshows and Seminars at PPM UI Festival 2023 Dr. Hendra Kapris explained that talk shows, seminars and exhibitions span all scientific fields of UI, starting from social sciences, humanities, health sciences, up to science and technology.

Talk shows include “Strengthening the MSME and Homeless Economy”; “Multidisciplinary sciences in solving stunting problems in Baduy”; and “Scientek Talkshow: Zero Waste Culture and Waste for the Economy.”

“We bring together stakeholders, namely government, industry, community, media and UI academics to strengthen service and empowerment
community,” he explained.

Ultimately, the Pentahelix collaboration succeeded in producing revolutionary thinking based on solutions to the nation’s problems. It is also hoped that this activity will provide an overview of partner villages or government or private partners interested in being involved in the community service program carried out by the UI.

In its implementation, the 2023 UI PPM Festival exhibition features 34 products and social innovations created by UI faculty, such as animated videos on skin care for the elderly, educational videos on acupressure to increase appetite in children with growth problems , nutritional impact game applications, branding Coffee Pour membership in the Cocol Valley population, NTT, the Sumba cultural heritage electronic catalog, the science kit for scientific literacy on microorganisms, and so on.
