The EIB supports do-it-yourself SMEs to enter the capital market
Yogyakarta (MidLand) – The Yogyakarta Special Region Representative Office of the Indonesian Stock Exchange (EIB) supports micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in this province to enter the capital market.
“We are trying to incubate these MSMEs together so that they grow and can eventually ‘go public’ (enter the capital market),” IDX DIY head Irfan Noor Riza said in Yogyakarta on Friday.
Irfan guarantees that SMEs will get a lot of benefits if they join the capital market because by going public they will easily get alternative financing from the capital market.
“They can access funding by ‘going public’. This is very helpful in growing their business,” he said.
In addition to getting broader financing alternatives, according to Irfan, the branding of their products will also be more prominent, thus broadening market access.
However, he believes that MSME players in the DIY sector are now starting to become literate and have a strong interest in the capital market.
According to Irfan, this high level of interest is demonstrated by the number of MSMEs turning to IDX DIY to inquire about the stages of going public.
“After the socialization ‘went public,’ we were inundated with questions and they came to our office wanting to know what the stages were like,” he said.
To be able to offer some shares to the public on the capital market, according to Irfan, MSMEs must have at least the legal form of a limited liability company (PT) and have been operational for at least a year.
EIB DIY together with Financial Services Industry Communication Forum (FKIJK) DIY collaborated with four universities, namely Gadjah Mada University (UGM), National Development University (UPN) “Veteran” Yogyakarta, State Islamic University (UIN) Sunan Kalijaga and the STIE YKPN.
Through this incubator, MSMEs or startups supported by four campuses gain an understanding of the world of capital markets and discover the benefits and benefits of conducting an IPO in capital markets.
Based on data from entrepreneurs registered on the digital marketing platform SiBakul, facilitated by the regional DIY government, the number of DIY MSMEs currently reaches around 341,000.
Of these, more than 100,000 MSMEs sell culinary products.
