The DPR I Commission is ready to finalize the broadcasting bill

Jakarta (MidLand) – Deputy Chairman of Commission I DPR RI Abdul Kharis Almasyhari said that his party is ready to finalize the draft law on broadcasting (RUU), which was harmonized during the meeting of the legislative body of the DPR RI ( Baleg).

“When we drafted it, there was a lot of input that was part of the desire to refine this law,” he said in a written statement in Jakarta on Thursday.

According to him, the suggestions presented in this harmonization will be taken into account in the discussion of the bill in Commission I. Furthermore, in the discussion of the bill, attempts are made to avoid what is regulated in the law on job creation.

“The contribution of Baleg and other members of the DPR will be used as material to make improvements and make it more comprehensive,” said the legislator who is optimistic that the changes to this law will be completed in 2024.

He gave an example, one of the suggestions is to pay attention to the protection of children, women and disabilities. He stated that the contribution was very significant and very useful for improving the law.

Previously, DPR President Puan Maharani asked DPR members to complete their constitutional tasks at the end of their term in 2019-2024.

“2024 is the last year of the constitutional tasks of the RI DPR for 2019-2024. It is our commitment to be able to complete our tasks as members of the RI DPR which will leave a better legacy in the implementation of popular sovereignty” , Puan said in his session opening speech at a plenary meeting at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Tuesday (16/1).

Puan explained that, in the exercise of its legislative function, the RI DPR will continue to discuss 19 (nineteen) bills that are currently still in the Level I Discussion phase. The bills consist of three DPR proposals, five Government proposals, three DPD proposals and eight open cumulative bills.

Furthermore, there are 34 bills that will enter the level I discussion phase, of which three proposed by the Presidential Decree, two bills proposed by the Government and 29 open cumulative bills.
