The Deputy Minister of Communication and Information invites the public to vote for the 12 ICT works of the 2024 WSIS Awards
Jakarta (MidLand) – Deputy Minister of Information and Communication Nezar Patria invited the public to choose 12 Indonesian information and communications technology (ICT) works for the World Summit on Information Society (WSIS) awards of 2024.
“There are 12 representatives of initiatives or works related to information and communication technology who will be nominated at the World Summit on Information Society or WSIS 2024,” Nezar said in Jakarta on Friday.
Indonesia named 12 works or initiatives as winners of the annual event which took place in Geneva, Switzerland.
Nezar expressed great appreciation to the 2024 WSIS Awards nominees from various ICT industry stakeholders and different regions of Indonesia.

They competed against 360 entries from around the world in 18 categories. The candidates were selected in the United Nations (UN) expert team selection process from more than 1,000 applicants.
To be winners, the works must be voted by the public. You can vote until March 31, 2024.
From the voting results, the United Nations International Telecommunication Union (ITU) will determine the five initiative works that received the highest number of votes per category.
Subsequently, one winner (first place winner) and four champions (second place) will be determined per category. The voting guidelines are visible on the page https://s.id/panduanwsis2024.
“Indonesian netizens, show the world that we have superior digital resources and can compete with any country. For this, let’s use our fingers to do it votechoose Red and White,” Nezar said.
The WSIS is a forum for ITU member countries to ensure wider access to ICT. Excellent works and initiatives from various parts of the world to promote the use of ICT in sustainable development were also rewarded.

Previously, Indonesia had managed to win numerous awards in different categories at the previous year’s WSIS Awards.
The initiatives that received Winner awards are Healthy Internet by ICT Watch (2017), Good Indonesia by the Ministry of Communication and Information (2018), National Digital Literacy Movement by Siberkreasi (2020), ICT for Irrigation Agricultural Information by 8villages ( 2021), and the Jakarta Smart City Flood Control System (2022).
