Jakarta (MidLand) – Deputy Minister of Communication and Information Nezar Patria highlighted the three values ​​implemented by the Ministry of Communication and Information in eradicating online gambling.

“The President’s order is to eradicate online gambling. I ask only three things: First, maintain your integrity. Second, the trust assigned. And third, loyalty,” he said in a news release Tuesday.

According to Nezar, the development of online gambling practices is increasingly worrying because it burdens young people.

He said that online gambling money reaches IDR 347 trillion per year, whose victims are lower class people, from housewives, to truck drivers, to motorbike taxi drivers, to meatball makers. Their lives have been ruined due to the gambling trap.

The Deputy Minister of Communication and Information appreciated the efforts of the staff of the Ministry of Communication and Information in managing the circulation of content and online gambling sites. Nezar also reminded us not to stop in eradicating online gambling.

“We appreciate what has been done so far. I know (what) the battle with online gambling is like and we all know we can only block and take down. “But we have greater power to hinder the development of online gambling,” she stressed.

The government will form an integrated task force to eradicate online gambling.

According to Budi Arie, the formation of the task force aims to solve the problem of online gambling more comprehensively by strengthening coordination between the ministries/institutions involved.

“This gambling is illegal by law, so enforcement measures (to eradicate it) must be implemented effectively,” Budi said, after attending an internal meeting chaired by President Joko Widodo on the gambling emergency online gambling in Indonesia at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Thursday. In this case, he said, the Ministry of Communications and Information will focus on the withdrawal and removal (suppression) of online gambling sites, while the enforcement aspect will be entrusted to law enforcement agencies.

Referring to data from the Financial Transaction Analysis and Reporting Center (PPATK), the total turnover of money from online gambling in 2023 will reach IDR 327 trillion.

Budi said this finding is very disturbing, especially since there have been many reports received by the government that online gambling players were small members of the population.

“This year alone I told you that four people have committed suicide because of online gambling. So this country must be serious. Dramatic steps will be taken next week. “If necessary, simply arrest the bookie,” he said. said.
