The Commerce Minister said that residents can have confidence in purchasing 3kg of LPG using their identity card

I think residents can be trusted and they respect the rules. I think the residents can be trusted

Cimahi, West Java (MidLand) – Minister of Trade (Mendag) Zulkifli Hasan said that citizens can trust the provisions for the subsidized purchase of 3kg LPG gas, where they will have to use an identity card at the base starting from 1 June 2024.

“I think the residents can be trusted and they comply with the regulations. I think the residents can be trusted,” Zulkifli said after visiting the bulk LPG filling and transportation station (SPPBE) belonging to PT Bajubang Gasindo (Sadikun) on Saturday ) in Cimahi, West Java.

He gave an example when there was shortage of cooking oil where to buy two liters of cooking oil you had to use your KTP and KK.

“I said: don’t distrust people because sometimes it’s the managers, the mayors, the regents, the governors, the ministers who have to be suspected. So in the past, to buy two liters of oil, you had to use an identity card said you have to trust, how do you use a hanger “You can only buy two liters, ladies read and definitely buy only two liters,” he said.

At the same place, Pertamina Patra Niaga regional marketing director Mars Ega Legowo said that the ID card purchase policy is actually within the context of collecting data on the public, so that subsidies are in line with the regulatory provisions of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources.

“From June 1, 2024, we have effectively integrated the system from Pertamina to LPG agents, Pangkalan and the community, so that later the government can profile the consumers to whom this subsidized gas is distributed,” he said.

This policy, Ega continued, is not actually about making things difficult, but about protecting the rights of people in difficulty so that they can be minimized if there are indications of fraud.

“Perhaps because the disparity between subsidized and unsubsidized prices is quite large, if there are indications that parties want to take advantage of this rigidity, we can start to know how to protect it in this way,” he said.

“The purpose of this registration is therefore to provide effectiveness to the target needy community, so that the rights of the needy community, as per the intended purpose, are taken away from people who are not entitled to them,” he added.
