The Central Information Commission visits IPC Canada to learn about integration models
Jakarta (MidLand) – The Central Information Commission (KI) visited the Information and Privacy Commissioner (IPC of Ontario), Toronto, Canada, to examine opportunities for integration models for managing personal data protection with disclosure of information to the public.
Central Information Commission Vice-President Arya Sandhiyudha said the integrated model for data protection management and public information disclosure implemented in Canada is one of the models being studied by the Central Information Commission.
“So, regarding the relationship between personal data protection and public information disclosure, there are three models of approach: First, the integration model, one example is Canada,” Arya said in a statement received Friday in Jakarta.
Last year, he said that the Central KI visited Belgium to study the management model of personal data protection and public information disclosure implemented in the European Union, namely the synergy model.
“Secondly, the synergy model. For example, in the European Union, we also studied last year when we went to Belgium. So there are two institutions, but coordination by a coordinating institution is a kind of holding companies,” he said.
Then he said: “The third (model), of course, if a separate institution is chosen later.”
According to him, these three models of approach should be open options that can be taken as the best decision to promote open public information and protection of personal data in the country.
“Indonesia sees an opportunity to integrate personal data protection governance with public information disclosure,” he said.
During the Central KI’s visit to the IPC office, Canada, on Thursday (10/3), Arya, who led the delegation, arrived with two other KI Central Commissioners, namely Rospita Vici Paulyn and Samrotunnajah Ismail.
The Indonesian delegation was accompanied by the Consul for Information and Social Culture, Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia (KJRI) Toronto, Canada, sent by Consul General Dyah Asmarani.
On this occasion, the Indonesian delegation was then received by the IPC Vice President, Warren Mar, who is responsible for the personal information and data dispute resolution function on a daily basis.
