The Apple Pencil 3 reportedly has a “squeezing” motion.
Jakarta (MidLand) – Apple is expected to introduce new iPad Pro and iPad Air models soon, as well as rumors that the company is working on a new accessory for its tablet, namely the Apple Pencil.
Launched 9to5Mac on Tuesday (4/2), there is now evidence that supports the development of a new Apple Pencil 3 and it will feature “movements”tight“or squeeze.
Several pieces of evidence have been found in the code of the iPadOS 17.5 beta released in developer showing a new move called “tight” for Apple Pencil.

These gestures can be used for quick interactions like adding shapes, signatures, stickers, or text fields.
Apparently, the gesture will be activated by pressing the surface of the Apple Pencil.
The Apple Pencil 2 only supports the double-tap gesture to switch between tools in some apps, and it doesn’t have a pressure sensor on the surface, only on the tip.
This strongly suggests that the new “squeezing” gesture found in the iPadOS 17.5 beta is intended for the yet-to-be-released Apple Pencil 3.

Interestingly, Apple also updated the interface for pairing the Apple Pencil for the first time to support new hardware that doesn’t yet exist. Earlier this year, 9to5Mac discovered evidence of Apple Pencil support in the Find My app. Currently, no Apple Pencil models can be tracked via the Find My network.
Meanwhile, iPadOS 17.4 introduced a new version of the PencilKit API, which can be used developer to make their app compatible with Apple Pencil.
However, Apple has not revealed what new features PencilKit 3 adds to users.
Some rumors suggest that the Apple Pencil 3 will support replaceable magnetic tips.
