Telkomsel encourages public participation in tackling online fraud
Jakarta (MidLand) – Strengthening its commitment to implementing sustainable ESG principles, Telkomsel introduces the Telkomsel Jaga Data initiative which is an embodiment of the implementation of certain aspects government (governance) relating to data protection in every aspect of business operations.
Through this initiative, Telkomsel invites the public to actively report any indications of fraud on line spread through the #BersatuKitaLapor movement, also part of ongoing efforts to raise awareness about crime prevention on line.
The public can report various types of fraud on line experienced, both telephone fraud, Short message service (SMS) or application chatting. Telkomsel’s initiative to protect data through the #BersatuKitaRepor movement is in line with the company’s vision as leading provider of digital telecommunications services in Indonesia, which is committed to community empowerment in aspects related to the use of technology, including protection from the threat of fraud on line.

“Data from the Indonesian Ministry of Communications and Information records that 1,730 fraudulent contents were recorded in the period between August 2018 and February 2023 on line within a period of five years. “Therefore, every individual must actively protect their personal information, because protecting personal data is a shared responsibility,” said Saki Hamsat Bramono, vice president of corporate communications and social responsibility at Telkomsel.
“Through the #BersatuKitaLapor movement, Telkomsel not only educates, but encourages and invites all customers and the community to take concrete action to become part of the solution and report all forms of fraud on line expert. “This reflects Telkomsel’s commitment and responsibility to building a secure and responsible digital ecosystem, where every individual has an important role in maintaining security,” he added.
Telkomsel has made several service channels available for customers who wish to obtain information or report potential fraud on line on behalf of Telkomsel. Customers can contact the Call Center service active 24 hours a day at contact number 188, send a complaint SMS to 1166 with the format: FRAUD#FRAUD NUMBER#FRAUD SMS CONTENTS, email cs@telkomsel.co.id and go to the nearest GraPARI store.

Apart from this, the public can also access government service channels through the official website www.aduannomor.id by the Indonesian Ministry of Communications and Information for reports of misuse of mobile numbers for fraudulent purposes.
Telkomsel also urges all customers to always be vigilant in maintaining the security of their personal data and to report any form of fraud on line they receive, do not provide OTP codes, PINs, passwords or other information to irresponsible parties on behalf of cellular operators.
Strengthening the “Telkomsel Protects Data” initiative through the #BersatuKitaRepor movement, Telkomsel also launched an educational video describing fraudulent acts on line by irresponsible subjects, in order to obtain personal data of potential victims.

The video aims to raise public awareness to protect themselves from the threat of cybercrime and to report potential fraud on line if you have experienced or know what happened. Further information on the fraud alert initiative and #BersatuKitaRepor can be found at tsel.id/laporpenipuan.
“Telkomsel’s commitment to anticipating cases of fraud on line continues to be implemented through a series of preventive measures related to cybersecurity, such as improving and updating the security system, as well as adding new ISO 27001 certified security features for information security, regular data verification of customers to prevent fraud by using false data, collaborate with other parties, authorities, to provide education and awareness to customers. “Through the #BersatuKitaLapor education initiative, Telkomsel is also taking on a role as a change agent to raise public awareness on the importance of keeping digital security together,” concluded Saki.
