Syahrul Yasin Limpo and the others were charged today
Jakarta (MidLand) – Former Agriculture Minister Syahrul Yasin Limpo (SYL) will stand trial to read charges by the Public Prosecutor (JPU) of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) in the alleged corruption case at the Indonesian Ministry of Agriculture (Kementan) today, Friday.
The prosecutor will read the charges at the Corruption Offences Court (Tipikor) at the Central Jakarta District Court. This schedule is in accordance with the jury orders during the last trial last Monday (24/6).
“For the reading of criminal charges by the prosecutor on Friday, June 28, 2024,” Chief Judge Rianto Adam Pontoh said at the time.

In addition to the charges against SYL, the prosecutor will also read the charges against the accused Secretary General of the Indonesian Ministry of Agriculture for the period 2021-2023 Kasdi Subagyono and Director of Agricultural Equipment and Machinery of the Indonesian Ministry of Agriculture for 2023 Muhammad Hatta.
In this case, the Minister of Agriculture for the period 2019-2023 was accused of extortion and receiving bribes totaling IDR 44.5 billion within the Ministry of Agriculture in the period 2020-2023. The extortion was carried out together with Kasdi and Hatta.
The indictment alleges that SYL raised money by asking Kasdi and Hatta to act as coordinators to collect money from senior officials of the Ministry of Agriculture and their staff.
SYL is charged with article 12 letter e joint Article 18 of Law (UU) No. 31 of 1999 on the Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption joint Article 55 paragraph 1 first of the Criminal Code (KUHP) arrived Article 64 paragraph 1 of the penal code.
He then filed a note of opposition (exceptions) to the prosecutor’s accusation. However, the panel of judges decided not to accept the note of opposition because they considered that it had entered into the main examination of the case and therefore needed to be proven at trial.
However, the panel granted SYL’s request to move its detention center from the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) detention center to the Salemba detention center in central Jakarta. SYL requested this point in its note of opposition on health grounds.
In the subsequent trial, SYL’s actions were revealed through the witnesses presented by the prosecutor at the trial, including regarding the use of illicit money. On the other hand, on several occasions, the SYL has denied the witness’ statement.
