Suryo Prabowo launches storybook while serving in East Timor
“I created this book in order to have history and find the authors of history”,
Jakarta (MidLand) – TNI Lieutenant General (ret.) Johannes Suryo Prabowo shares his story while serving in East Timor in the book “Bringing the Independent Province of East Timor to Become East Timor”.
“I made this book so that we can have history and attract historical actors,” Suryo said at the book launch event at the Beer Hall in SCBD area, South Jakarta, on Saturday.
In the book, Suryo tells his story while serving in East Timor from 1997 to 1999. There, Suryo served as chief of staff of Korem (Kasrem) 164/Wira Sharma (WD).
Suryo also served as Private Secretary (Sespri) Kasum (Chief of General Staff) ABRI concurrently Kasrem 164/WD, Deputy Commander of Korem (Wadanrem) 164/WD.
In addition to this, Suryo has also served as deputy governor of the province of East Timor and, more recently, served as deputy commander of the Indonesian task force. Task Force (ITFET) before East Timor was handed over to representatives of the United Nations.
During his tenure, Suryo went through various dynamics, from physical conflicts in the form of riots, to political dynamics between the central government and East Timor to the incident of East Timor’s release from Indonesia, which led to his name changing in East Timor.
These are the stories that Suryo tries to present in the book which contains 248 pages.
In this book, Suryo also tries to provoke historical actors to speak out and tell the truth about what happened during the process of East Timor’s transformation into East Timor.
In this way Suryo hopes that the audience can get many historical facts from the religious point of view of the culprits.
For your information, this book not only presents information about Johannes Suryo Prabowo as the main actor of the story. The book also features various interviews with great figures who took part in the events that occurred in East Timor or East Timor.
Some of them include General TNI (Retd) Wiranto who served as Menhakam or Pangab in 1999, Prof.Dr. Makarim Wibisono as permanent envoy of RI to the United Nations in 1999, Dawi Fortuna Anwar as spokesperson of the President of the Republic of Indonesia in 1999 and former head of the State Intelligence Agency (BIN) Hendropriyono.
