Spotify features a music video playback function, available in Indonesia
Launching Tech Crunch on Thursday, this feature will only be available in beta in 11 countries, namely Indonesia, Brazil, Colombia, Germany, Italy, Kenya, Netherlands, Poland, Philippines, Sweden and the United Kingdom.
“For this beta launch, we selected these markets based on a number of criteria, including market size and availability of local content support,” said Sten Garmark, Spotify’s global vice president of consumer experience.

To access this music video playback feature, users must first subscribe to premium.
You can access this feature from the “Now Playing” screen of songs supported by the video feature. While playing a song, users can tap the “Switch to Video” button which will play the song in video format.
Users can change the phone’s orientation to watch music videos in any format landscape. If you want to go back to listening to the song in vocal form, tap the “Switch to audio” button.

In introducing this music video playback feature, Spotify does not cooperate with other parties such as YouTube or other third parties. So Spotify provides this music video itself for its users to enjoy.
This music video feature is available on the Spotify app for Android, iOS, desktop and TV.

Currently, the number of songs that contain videos is still limited. However, Garmark explained that Spotify has obtained distribution rights to add new music videos.
“With our first beta launch, we started with subset limited to the complete catalog, which includes thousands of music videos. In subset “We want to prioritize a broad range of genres and artists in our launch destinations,” Garmark said.
