Specifications for Hamas missiles used to attack Israel: Okezone techno
JAKARTA – Hamas militant forces carried out a surprise attack on Israel on Saturday (10/07/2023) by launching more than 5,000 missiles in 20 minutes. According to News18 quoted on Monday (9/10/2023), this attack killed more than 200 Israeli citizens and injured 1000 people.
This missile, owned by Hamas militants, is capable of passing through the Israeli air defense system equipped with advanced sensors, the Iron Dome. Hamas has been trying to identify the weak points of the Iron Dome system for several years. They managed to do this by launching several rockets in a short time, making it difficult for the Israeli defense control system to intercept all targets.
So, what are the specifications of the Hamas missiles used to attack Israel?
The Palestinian militant force Hamas is believed to have 14,000 rockets, of which around 10,000 are short-range rockets with a range of less than 20km. Hamas has also developed its crude missile technology and expanded its range to cover major Israeli cities, including Tel Aviv and Jerusalem.
Among the many rockets possessed by Hamas militant forces, several Hamas rockets were likely used to carry out a surprise attack on Israel last Saturday. Some of them are M-75, Qassam, Al Quds-3, Yasin and Buraq-100.
1.M-75
The rocket with the name M-75 has a fairly short range. This rocket can only hit targets within a radius of about 75 km or about 47 miles. However, actual capacity and accuracy may vary. With a simple design, the M-75 is made from local materials and launched with a mobile launcher. This rocket has a high-explosive warhead.
2. Distribute
The Qassam rocket consists of three types used since 2001. Qassam-1 (2001) has a diameter of 60 mm, can reach targets at a distance of 4 km and a warhead weighing 0.5 kg. Qassam-2 (2002) has a diameter of 150 mm, is capable of reaching targets at a distance of 10 km and has a 5 kg warhead. Meanwhile, the Qassam-3 (2005) has a diameter of 170 mm, a target range of 12 km and a warhead weighing 15 kg.
3. Graduation
This rocket has a diameter of 122 mm which can reach up to 20 km. This rocket is also equipped with a warhead weighing 18 kg. This Grad was developed by Iran in 2008.
4.WS-1E
The WS-1E has a diameter of 122 mm with a range of 45 km. The warhead of this rocket weighs 22 kg. This rocket was supplied by China via Iran in 2008.
