Seoul AI Summit adopts declaration on safe, innovative and inclusive AI

Jakarta (MidLand) – The global summit hosted by South Korea and the United Kingdom on Tuesday (21/5) adopted a declaration promoting safe, innovative and inclusive artificial intelligence (AI) to address challenges and opportunities related to rapid development of technology.

The so-called “Seoul Declaration” was adopted during the virtual leaders’ session of the AI ​​Seoul Summit, hosted by President Yoon Suk Yeol and British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.

The two-day event follows the inaugural Global AI Safety Summit in the UK last November, where 28 countries and the European Union adopted the Bletchley Declaration, the first global guidelines on AI safety. AI.

“We recognize that AI safety, innovation and inclusiveness are interrelated goals, and it is important to include these priorities in international discussions on AI governance to address the broad spectrum of opportunities and challenges in the design, development, implementation and usage. “Al is present and can participate,” the statement read.

“We recognize the importance of interoperability between AI governance frameworks in line with a risk-based approach to maximize the benefits and address the risks of AI, to ensure safe design, development, implementation and use of AI, protected and reliable,” he added.

The leaders’ session was attended by leaders of the Group of Seven countries, namely the United States, Canada, France, Germany, Italy and Japan, as well as Singapore and Australia, together with representatives of the United Nations, the Organization for Economic Co-operation and development and the European Union.

The event also brought together tech industry leaders, including CEO of Tesla, SpaceX and xAI startup Elon Musk and Samsung Electronics President Lee Jae-yong, as well as representatives from global companies, including ChatGPT maker OpenAI, Google, Microsoft, Meta and South Korea’s leading portal operator Naver.

A ministerial-level session will be held at the Korea Institute of Science and Technology on Wednesday to discuss measures to strengthen AI security and achieve sustainability and resilience. This was broadcast by Yonhap, Tuesday (5/21).
