Satya Wacana gets first win thanks to ‘buzzer beat’
Jakarta (MidLand) – Satya Wacana Salatiga finally won its first victory in IBL 2024 thanks to points scored when playing time had expired or buzzer beateragainst Borneo Hornbills with a final score of 66-64 at Knight Stadium Semarang, Sunday.
As well as ending the suffering of four consecutive defeats, Satya Wacana instead added the bitter pill: Borneo Hornbils became the only team in the IBL never to have won with a record of six defeats.
The situation in the last minute between Satya Wacana and Borneo was very tense as Satya Wacana tried to recover. Initially, Satya Wacana was five points behind, i.e. 59-64, with two minutes left in the game.

Tyree Robinson scored two points to bring Satya Wacana closer to 61-64. It became increasingly difficult for Borneo to maintain the lead as possession of the ball fell to Satya Wacana in the last 30 seconds remaining because Borneo’s Najeal Young made a mistake which resulted in turnover.
Overcoming the miss, Michael Henn hit a 3-pointer to tie the score, 64-64. Borneo risks having to go to extra time or over time for the third time this season.
However, Yehezkiel Rahadiyanto scored a point when buzzer sounded which forced Borneo to suffer their sixth defeat. Ezekiel scored just five points in this game, including a buzzer beater that took advantage of a rebound from the chaos beneath the Borneo Hornbills ring.

Satya Wacana’s point tally was dominated by Tyree Robinson who scored 25 points and grabbed 14 rebounds. Starting the game off the bench, Michael Henn contributed 18 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assist.
Meanwhile, from Borneo’s court, Travion Leonard and Najeal Young scored 17 points each. Leonard added 19 rebounds to his team’s 23 turnover throughout the match.
Satya Wacana has now crawled to 12th place in the IBL rankings with 1 win and 4 losses. Meanwhile, Borneo, who have recorded 0 wins and 6 losses, are under Satya Wacana Salatiga. This was Borneo’s third defeat since the departure of coach Tondi Raja Syailendra.
In the last three matches, Borneo has been led by Danny Kusuma as substitute coach. Borneo’s new coach, Ricky Benitez, has not led the team since he was introduced by the club’s management some time ago.
