PSI: Continue Sirekap but improvements need to be made

Improvements and enhancements to Sirekap must continue to maintain the accuracy of data and information.

Jakarta (MidLand) – The Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) has asked the General Election Commission (KPU) to continue uploading data into the Sirekap (2024 Election Recapitulation Information System) application, but with a number of improvements.

PSI hopes that uploading of voice data via Sirekap will continue, along with adaptation to the manual calculation process.

“Improvements and enhancements to Sirekap must continue to maintain the accuracy of data and information,” said Francine Widjojo, director and legal spokesperson of LBH PSI, in a written statement received Thursday in Jakarta.

Francine considers Sirekap important as a form of opening information to the public regarding the conduct of elections in accordance with the mandate of the electoral law.

“With Sirekap, all parties can access and monitor voting data. Therefore, it is very important to continue. However, once again, we need to continue to make improvements and improvements,” Francine said.

Previously, Indonesia’s election watchdog (Bawaslu) advised the KPU on Saturday (17/2) that Sirekap should temporarily not display voting data at polling stations (TPS).

The reason why the system is not transmitted temporarily is because there are still many numbers that do not match in the Sirekap after being converted from the C1-Plano model form document or the 2024 electoral vote counting results register.

“First stop viewing the information about the grade capture data. However, please continue to scan the C-Results template scan form uploaded to 2024.kpu.go.id, until the system issues allow Sirekap to carefully read the data listed in the C-Results form,” as quoted from the Bawaslu Letter.

On another occasion, Indonesian KPU member Idham Holik confirmed that Sirekap will not be closed and will remain accessible to the public to find out the latest developments on the 2024 election results.

“Currently Sirekap still works to be accessible to the public,” Idham said in Jakarta, Tuesday (20/2).

Idham believes that Bawaslu’s suggestion for improvement is indeed such that the data in Sirekap is not wrong. This is why some time ago the KPU temporarily blocked Sirekap from processing data accuracy.

He also emphasized that Sirekap is a tool to help count votes for the 2024 elections. Therefore, Sirekap is a form of the KPU’s efforts to fulfill the public’s right to information.

“Therefore, we believe that Sirekap has a strategic role and we are currently still focused on the accuracy or synchronization of the data in Sirekap with the authentic data in the C.Results model module photos,” he said.

Quoted from the official website of the KPU, Sirekap is an abbreviation of the summary information system developed and used by the KPU for counting votes.

The KPU is also committed to continuing to leverage the benefits of Sirekap in the 2024 elections to create professional elections and facilitate public access to all information.

Based on KPU decree number 66 of 2024, Sirekap is an application tool based on information technology as a means of publishing vote counting results and the process of summarizing vote counting results, as well as a tool to assist in implementation of the results of the counting of electoral votes.

The public can directly monitor developments at 2024.kpu.go.id/. The results displayed by the KPU are direct calculations (real count), but not the final results of the 2024 elections. The KPU stated that the publication of the Model C/D results form is the result of vote counting at polling stations with the aim of facilitating access to public information .

The counting of votes is carried out by the KPPS, the summary of the results of the counting of votes and the determination of election results are carried out in stages in plenary meetings opened by the PPK, the district/city KPU, the provincial KPU and the KPU on the basis of the provisions of the statutory rules.
