Professionals say that guava juice can help cure dengue fever
Jakarta (MidLand) – Public health worker, Dr. Ngabila Salama said consuming guava juice can help treat dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF).
“However, remember, this is not the main treatment for dengue fever, it is only slightly helpful and is an adjunct to the main therapy administered by the doctor,” Ngabila said when contacted in Jakarta on Friday. This statement was made due to the increasing number of dengue fever cases in the capital during this transition period.
Ngabila details several benefits of guava juice for maintaining health, particularly for strengthening the body’s defenses against dengue fever.
“First, it contains antioxidants to fight the inflammation that causes platelets to continually drop,” Ngabila said.

So, he continued, guava juice contains the flavonoid-type quercetin which can inhibit the multiplication of the dengue virus in the body.
“So that the platelets don’t keep falling off,” he said.
Beyond that, Ngabila said, guava leaf extract can inhibit the growth of the dengue virus in the body.
“Beyond that, it also prevents bleeding by increasing the platelet count to 100,000 per microliter within 16 hours,” he said.
Ngabila stressed that the main treatment for dengue fever is to give fluids and stop the inflammation.

“It is also best not to consume packaged juices, because the sugar content and preservatives are not good for the body,” Ngabila said.
Previously, DKI Jakarta provincial health service head Ani Ruspitawati said the biggest contributor to dengue hemorrhagic fever (DBD) cases according to the latest data was West Jakarta, with a total of 716 cases, followed by South Jakarta.
“In fact, dengue fever is an endemic case, every year cases occur with the same pattern,” Ani said in Jakarta, Thursday (3/28), during the PSN 3M conference in North Cipete village.
According to him, in fact, of the five cities and one district that are part of DKI Jakarta, the average cases of dengue are increasing, both in the West, East, North, South, Center and in the Thousand Islands.
However, Ani said, the area with the highest number of dengue fever cases as of March 26, 2024 is West Jakarta with the number of cases reaching 716, followed by South Jakarta with 576, East Jakarta with 562, North Jakarta with 262 cases, Central Jakarta with 172 and Thousand Islands with 18 cases.
