Kuala Lumpur (MidLand) – Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim stressed that Malaysia’s policy is consistent in opposing colonialism, apartheid, ethnic cleansing and usurping the position of any country.
Prime Minister Anwar made the firm statement in response to questions from the media at a press conference with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz which he attended online from Kuala Lumpur on Tuesday.
Malaysia’s political position is consistent: the country neither supports nor opposes colonialism, apartheid, ethnic cleansing or usurpation of the position of any country. “Whether it is in Ukraine or Gaza,” Anwar stressed.
He said he could not erase the 40-year-old cruelty and plunder, which had caused reactions and anger in society.
He said he strongly rejects the narrative, the obsession, as if the whole problem began and ended on October 7, 2023.
“It doesn’t start on October 7th and it doesn’t end on October 7th. It started four decades earlier and continues every day,” Anwar pointed out.
He said he discussed many issues with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, who sometimes had different opinions, but shared the same beliefs regarding the ongoing war in Gaza, where they both agreed to maintain prisoner releases and an immediate ceasefire , as well as providing humanitarian assistance. to Palestine, especially to Gaza.
Malaysia, Anwar said, certainly cares about what happened on October 7, 2023, when the conflict between Hamas and Israel began. However, he called on Europe, especially Germany, to take note of the fact that cruelty, oppression and plunder against the Palestinian people have been going on for four decades.
On the same occasion, Prime Minister Anwar stressed that Malaysia has no relations with the military wing of Hamas.
