Preserving culture, TMII organizes the 39th Indonesian Archipelago Dance Parade

Jakarta (MidLand) – Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII) held the 39th Archipelago Dance Parade on Sunday (12/11) with the aim of promoting and preserving the rich cultural heritage of Indonesian dance.

TMII Chief Director Claudia Ingkiriwang, in her statement in Jakarta on Friday, said the Nusantara Dance Parade is an impetus for the Indonesian people to learn about and love the cultural diversity of this nation.

“TMII, as a vehicle for cultural preservation, is committed to continuing to support efforts to preserve and develop traditional arts and encourage younger generations to love culture,” Claudia said.

According to him, it has been more than three decades since the TMII Archipelago Dance Parade was held regularly every year and became a forum for joint performance activities of various provinces in terms of creating creative works and presenting Indonesian dances .

Judging by its role as a motivator in terms of artistic creativity, the TMII Nusantara Dance Parade is a nationwide activity believed to have enormous benefits.

“Especially in the context of promoting regional culture and as an effort to support government programs aimed at preserving and developing regional dance arts nationwide,” he said.

In addition to functioning as a means of evaluation in terms of creativity in dance production/work, Claudia said, this activity aims to promote and popularize regional dance so that it can encourage dance artists to develop by enriching their regional dance repertoire .

Claudia said that with the theme “Nusantara”, this year’s Nusantara Dance Parade will showcase the beauty and uniqueness of traditional dances from various regions of Indonesia.

“Each dance will reflect the ethnic diversity, customs and history inherent in the culture of Indonesian society,” he said.

The event took place on Sunday (12/11) starting at 09:00 WIB. Parade participants are representatives from each province of Indonesia.

Participants will wear beautiful traditional costumes, while participants’ dance moves will represent the rich art and culture that exists in this country with dance moves, music and fashion that reflect the unique traditions of their respective regions.

The material that will be shown is a new dance based on regional traditional dance or regional traditional cultural arts, which has never been shown in an activity.
