Police carry out large-scale patrols to prevent street crime in North Jakarta

Jakarta (MidLand) – Polda Metro Jaya together with Polres Metro North Jakarta (Jakut) are carrying out large-scale patrols ahead of the police operation codenamed Mantap Praja Jaya 2024 or the implementation of the regional head elections (Pilkada).

“Tonight, we at Polda Metro Jaya, together with the main forces of the North Jakarta Metropolitan Police, are carrying out large-scale patrolling activities,” said the head of Polda Metro Jaya’s legal division, Police Commissioner Leo Simarmata, after leading a demonstration at PIK Icona Penjaringan Roundabout, North Jakarta, on Wednesday evening.

He said around 10 locations were targeted this evening by large-scale patrols with a force of 350 personnel.

“We involve the TNI and other elements of society, even local government,” he said.

He said this patrol was carried out simultaneously in all police stations in accordance with the instructions of Metro Jaya police chief Inspector General Pol Karyoto.

According to him, this was a direct instruction from the Metro Jaya Regional Police Chief during the analysis and evaluation (anev) to crack down on traditional crimes, especially violent theft (curas), thoughtful theft (curat) and motor vehicle theft (curanmor).

In addition to carrying out patrols, members carrying out their duties also engage in dialogue with residents.

“We also carry out patrolling activities and dialogue with community members to convey messages of safety and community order. The principle is to provide crime prevention,” he said.
