Polda Metro has asked to thoroughly investigate the Cyber 1 fire case
Jakarta (MidLand) – The National Police Commission (Kompolnas) has asked Polda Metro Jaya to thoroughly investigate the case of the fire that occurred on December 2, 2021 at Cyber Building 1 on Jalan Kuningan Barat No. 8 because two student interns died in the incident.
“We will send a letter of clarification to Polda Metro Jaya,” Kompolnas member Poengky Indarti said in Jakarta on Friday.
Poengky said this was in line with his request to South Jakarta police to pursue the case.
“Why did the South Jakarta police suddenly issue an order to stop the investigation (SP3) in this case,” he said.
He will learn more about this decision before providing a further official response.
“I studied first,” he said.
Meanwhile, Indonesia Police Watch (IPW) chairman Sugeng Teguh Santoso assessed that there were irregularities and demanded an explanation for the decision.
“The conclusion of an investigation must be accompanied by a legally acceptable reason,” Sugeng said.
He stressed the release of SP3 without notification to the families of the victims who have the right to receive transparent information about the investigation.
“The family has the right to receive transparent information regarding this investigation,” he added.
Meanwhile, the victim’s family, the parents of Seto Fachrudin and Muhammad Redzuan Gaddafi, admitted feeling neglected.
Redzuan’s father, Beno, expressed his disappointment at not receiving official information about SP3.
The victim’s family hopes that the authorities will provide a transparent explanation on how to end this case and resolve the situation.
Earlier, South Jakarta Police Public Relations Section chief AKP Nurma Dewi said his party would look into SP3-related information in the Cyber Building 1 fire case.
